La Maison au Romarin 

La Maison au Romarin is a more than 200year old farm in the department Aveyron. In the renovated private house our parents enjoy the 4seasons of the south of France. The barn is converted into my home and that of my kids. Together with my sister we run a mini camping, a camp site on farmland with room for a few tents and our safari tent and the gîte which is situated in the barn. We have an astonishing panorama of mountains and valleys, farmlands and a lake. The lake is our private lake where our guests can swim and fish. The lake is surrounded with  fruit-trees of which we use the fruit for our home-made jam, compote, cake-stuffing and eau-de-vie. You can enjoy the French hospitality and nature. Whether you sit and read in a cosy corner in the garden or have fun in the lake, whether you will explore the country-site on your own or volunteer our field trips or picnics, it’s entirely up to you. In a nutshell: carefree and awfully luxuriously camping.

Campsite on farmland

 At the site is a limited number of  spots for tents of guests. For a place for your caravan or mobile home, please contact us first. Would you like to camp but you don’t own a tent, you can rent our Safari tent (watch Safari tent).

There is a possibility to supply your tent with electricity.

In ‘t Badhuis ( baths) you will find 2 toilettes, 2 showers, 2 double-sinks and a chest of drawers. Here you can get hot & cold water. When you don’t like to do the dishes in front of your tent, you can do this here also.

There is a playground equipped with a swing, a sandbox and a playhouse. And in the old hen house there is much more to be find, for example a tractor, building blocks, waterway, etc. You can also play badminton, volley, table football and table tennis. Once a week we organise Oud Hollandse Spellen ( watch Activities).

Besides enjoying the view, the lake (watch The Lake) and the activities on the spot, there are also walking-tours U and motor-tours for you available as well organised and non-organised out-doors activities (watch Activities).

You can park your car or motor at the private-parking. Our garden where you camp is car-free. 


Safari tent 

Our Safari tent is a terraced tent with a 3m x 6,5m veranda. The tent is provided with all comfort so you can camp as relaxed as possible:

•          a lounge set

•          a solid dining table and bench and 3 chairs

•          a luxurious kitchen with a cooker, a fridge – top freezer, coffee-machine, toaster, tea-towel, etc.

Further details: the tent is equipped with electricity, style lighting and a stove for the chilly evenings & mornings.

At the back of the tent are 2 bedrooms, 1 with a four-poster double bed and 1 with 2 bunk-beds incl. linen and towels. At arrival your bed is made and you just need to unpack your suitcase.

In short carefree and awfully luxuriously camping.


Gîte 

The gîte is situated in the former hayloft. Right from your car on the parking space you cross the path which leads you to the garden and enter the barn. The gîte has 2 stories. At that point the barn measures 8m height, there for we have beautiful high ceilings with solid oak beams. On the ground floor you will find:

•          the wardrobe,

•          a lounge set,

•          a luxurious kitchen with a cooker, a fridge – top freezer, coffee-machine, toaster, tea-towel,  etc,

•          the dining room.

Via the solid staircase you enter the landing where you find the bathroom and the separated toilet and the 2 bedrooms. 1Bedroom with a double bed  and the other bedroom with 2 single beds. Both bedrooms have a wardrobe.

Further details: the gîte is fully equipped with linen and towels, style lighting and a stove for the chilly evenings & mornings.

Here also is to be considered: At arrival your bed is made and you just need to unpack your suitcase. 


The Lake

Our Swimming Lake

The lake is approximately 1ha large and has been surrounded by fruit trees and brushwood. Via the dike the lake is at several places accessible. In the summer it has a little beach. Besides swimming you can also build sand castles and play with inflatable beds, - small boats,  - crocodiles, and such. The lake is large enough for all of us, so we don’t need to get in each other’s way. This doesn’t mean that we don’t need to consider each other.

The lake has not been protected and the parents are at all times responsible for their children.

Children up to and including 11 years of age and children older than 11 whom cannot swim are only allowed to enter the lake under supervision of  their parents.

Children who are not yet toilet-trained must wear a swimming nappy.

To picnic ( not to barbecue) is allowed at the lake provided that you bring everything back. The use of glassware, crockery and china at the lake is not allowed in view of fragments.

Our Fishing Lake

You can fish also in the lake. This is possible on the opposite side of the dike. Here you can fish in all rest even when there are lakeside visitors present. Because how eager you are to catch a fish, its not a success when you catch one of the visitors. The caught fish may gut and eat the fish yourself

Also to the fishermen applies: To picnic (not to barbecue) is allowed at the lake provided that you bring everything back. The use of glassware, crockery and china at the lake is not allowed in view of fragments.

In addition, all gears, hooks, plumbs, lines and tools should be brought back again, this out of safety for animals and lakeside visitors.
